Outsourcing 101: The Benefits of Outsourcing Virtually Everything

Outsourcing 101: The Benefits of Outsourcing Virtually Everything Day-to-day efficiency is regarded as one of the most valuable attributes a business owner can have.

Unfortunately, the most difficult part of being efficient is in maintaining that same high level of efficiency throughout the course of each business quarter, without crashing and burning. The tasks pile up and your level of stress sky rockets. This results in missed or late deadlines, dissatisfied customers–and even worse–a loss in acquiring more possible customers and revenue.

If you feel overwhelmed, don’t be. There are plenty of other business owners just like you who are dealing with the same problems of not being able to retain high levels of efficiency, but luckily, there is a solution. One of the single most time-saving, cost effective and prominent paths to being efficient on a day to day basis is through outsourcing.

Practically anything can be outsourced to let you focus on your core business strategies, but knowing exactly how to outsource what projects is key in being an efficient leader.

A few of the core benefits of outsourcing day to day tasks are:

  • You save money through outsourcing since virtual assistants require very little from the business owner. Purchasing extra office space, training new employees, and worrying about costly employee benefits that come with an in-house staff are non-existent when outsourcing to virtual assistants.
  • Outsourcing to virtual workers allows everyone involved to focus on what they’re truly good at. Instead of having to take the time to learn HTML or how to effectively engage your customers over social media, you can simply outsource the tasks to a proficient web designer or social media manager.

Now that you know the exact benefits of outsourcing, there are a few things to remember before going into the actual outsourcing process to ensure you’re as efficient and productive as possible.

Find someone trustworthy.
Even though this sounds like a no-brainer, trusting the individual or company you outsource to cannot be stressed enough. Even though the odds are in the business owners favor and they will likely find someone they can trust, there is always a chance you could run into the wrong person, and this can be detrimental to your business.

It is possible to uncover how trustworthy your outsourcer actually is by doing online background checks on the company, by communicating with them through phone or chat, and by giving them small trial runs before committing to larger tasks.

Let the outsourcer know your exact expectations and business policies.
You know by now that there are plenty of talented outsourcers that can deliver substantial results, but it’s important to let them know exactly how things should be done and when you expect results to be delivered.

It’s normal to be a bit apprehensive about outsourcing tasks to virtual workers who are potentially thousands of miles away, but outsourcing is quickly becoming the most sustainable way to achieve high levels of productivity and efficiency throughout the year, and so if you haven’t taken the plunge yet, there has never been a better time than now.

In case you aren’t sure what types of projects you should or could be outsourcing with your business, here are a few examples: administrative support; virtual assistant support; business consulting; article, blog and newsletter writing; content editing; video creation; social media management; website design and graphic design.

Finding someone who you can completely trust with minor decisions is the winning sauce.

It’s just so much easier to leave it to your VA if you know they can work it out based on some basic instructions via voice mail.

To get that trusted VA, you need to invest into the relationship with your VA. Treat them right. Make them a business partner. Give them praise from time to time. Pay them well and timely.

Then you’ll get there, just as I did 🙂

I agree totally. I think that building the trust factor is the most difficult part when you first begin to work with someone. Take it slowly and offer one new task at a time. The fact that you are providing services virtually makes it a little trickier. I have found that really taking the time to answer potential clients questions helps them feel more at ease with the whole process. You need to be able to show that client that you are self motivated and can handle tasks with little to no direction. Once the relationship has been established, you can move on to offering additional duties.
